Ji Do Kwan, meaning “School of Wisdom,” is one of the original nine kwans (schools) that shaped modern Taekwondo in post–World War II Korea. Founded by Sang Sup Chun and later led by Dr. Yun Kwae-byung, Jidokwan evolved from Japanese Shotokan karate roots and was deeply influenced by Korean martial artists who trained in Japan and Manchuria.
After the Korean War, Jidokwan reemerged as a fraternal order and became a key contributor to the unified Taekwondo system. Today, it endorses the Kukkiwon style and supports World Taekwondo, continuing its legacy through philosophy, discipline, and leadership.
